Cookies with Mrs. Claus - Dec. 15th, 2024

Join us December 15th for an afternoon of fun with Mrs. Claus!  Each participant will get to decorate (and eat!) cookies, drink hot cocoa, make a holiday craft, write a letter to Santa, and take photos with Mrs. Claus!

Parents do NOT need to register themselves if they are not planning to decorate their own cookies. Please no more than 2 accompanying adults per child registered.

There are three available time slots for this event: 1:00-2:30pm, 2:30-4:00pm, and 4:00-5:30pm.  Cost is $17 per participant (parent must remain on-site).  This event will take place at the Multipurpose Center (the library building) located at 202 Washington Ave. S. in Orting.

ADULTS - If you would like to decorate cookies, you will need to add yourself as a "child" to your account.  To do this, go to My Account, click Members, then click Add Child.  Enter your information then click Add.  You should then be able to register.

Family Holiday Movie Night - Dec. 20th, 2024

Join us at 6:30pm on December 20th at the Multipurpose Center in the Orting Library for a family holiday movie night! We will be showing "The Polar Express".  Cost is $5 per person (under 3 are free) and includes popcorn and hot cocoa! Folding chairs will be provided but feel free to bring low-backed chairs, blankets and pillows! We will have some mats on the floor for children to sit on. THIS IS NOT A DROP-OFF EVENT - ALL CHILDREN MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY AN ADULT.

Music Class, Ages 2-5 - Fall II 2024

Join us Thursdays from 9:30-10:00 or 10:30-11:00am for musical fun!  Kids will learn about music through singing, moving and exploring using finger play, nursery rhymes, music games, and instrument exploration. Parent must remain on site. This session is 6-weeks long. Cost is $36 per child. Classes take place at the Multipurpose Center located at the Orting Library.

 Playgroup - Fall 2024

Join us every Monday from 10:30-11:30am for free-play and other activities for ages 0-5!  A variety of toys, crafts, and other activities will be set up each week.   PARENT MUST REMAIN ON SITE.  Advance registration is required and occurs on a monthly basis.  Cost is $5 per participant per month. Class takes place in the Multipurpose Room at the Orting Library, located at 202 Washington Ave. S. in Orting.

October classes: 10/7, 10/14, 10/21, 10/28

November classes: 11/4, 11/18, 11/25 - NO CLASS 11/11

December classes: 12/2, 12/9, 12/16 - NO CLASS 12/23 & 12/30

Wiggles & Giggles - Fall II 2024

Join us Fridays from 11:15-12pm and tumble, dance and giggle your way through this fun movement class for preschoolers.  Participants will learn simple tumbling and dance techniques.  Parent participation required at first class.  Class takes place at the Orting Multipurpose Center (the library building) located at 202 Washington Ave. S. This session has 6 classes. First class 10/25/24. Cost is $48.

Adult Painting Class - November 19th, 2024

 Create this painting of a moonlight winter scene with us Sunday November 19th from 1:00-3:00pm or 3:00-5:00pm.  All supplies and step-by-step instruction by Rec Instructor Jane included!  Class takes place at the Orting Multipurpose Center (the library building) located at 202 Washington Ave. S. Cost is $25.

Kung Fu & Tai Chi Classes - Fall 2024

We are excited to offer Youth and Adult Kung Fu and Tai Chi classes this fall!

Kung Fu: All Levels - Classes on Traditional Chinese/Taiwanese martial arts, including Shaolinquan (Shaolin Boxing), the traditional soldier/bodyguard arts of Xingyiquan (Mind Intent Boxing) and Baguazhang (Eight Trigrams Palm), and the martial arts aspects of Taijiquan (Grand Ultimate Boxing), as taught within the Chen Pan-ling Family Lineage. These classes focus on the martial arts aspect of these styles, the application of movements for self-defense application, and their life-enhancing practice. 

Class days/times: Wednesdays 6:00-7:00pm AND Saturdays 8:00-9:00am.

Tai Chi: All Levels - Classes on the traditional Chinese/Taiwanese art of Taijiquan (a.k.a. Tai Chi Chuan or simply Tai Chi) in its practice as a life-enhancing, health-improving, fitness and longevity practice. There is no age limit to Taijiquan practice; Taijiquan is good for young people and older people. The sooner you start, the more you'll get out of it! 

 Class days/times: Wednesdays 7:15-8:15pm AND Saturdays 9:00-10:00am.

Registration for classes in November and December is currently open.  Cost is $5 per participant per month. Classes are twice a week. Classes take place at the Multipurpose Center located in the Orting Library building at 202 Washington Ave. S, in Orting.

November classes begin 11/6/24, December classes begin 12/4/24, No classes 12/25 & 12/28

Adult Dance Fitness Classes - Fall II 2024

 Dance Fitness - In this "jazzercise" style class, you'll move to the beat, burn calories, and have a blast!  Learn simple fitness routines to some of your favorite songs from across the decades! All ages (18+) and fitness levels welcome! Class takes place TUESDAYS from 6:00-7:00pm at the Multipurpose Center (the library building) located at 202 Washington Ave. S. in Orting.  Cost is $64.

The Fall II 2024 Session begins October 22nd and lasts 8 weeks. Last class 12/10/24.

TUESDAY Line Dancing Class - Fall II 2024

Line Dancing Class! - Join us Tuesday nights and learn how to line dance!  Line dances will range from beginner to intermediate level. All ages (18+) and fitness levels welcome! This is a great way to get moving and have fun! Class takes place at the Multipurpose Center (the library building) located at 202 Washington Ave. S. in Orting on Tuesdays from 7:00-8:00pm. Cost is $64.

The Fall II session will have 8 classes - first class starts October 22nd, 2024.

FRIDAY Line Dancing Class - Fall 2024

Join us Friday mornings for Line Dancing lessons!  Class is held from 10-11am every Friday at the Orting Station Building (the barn building next to Big J's) located at 101 Washington Ave. NW in Orting.  Cost is $5 per month of classes. Advance registration required. These classes are open to ages 18+ and all abilities!

Crafting Meetup Group - Fall 2024

Join us for a monthly crafting meetup on the third Thursday of every month! Bring whatever craft you’re into—knitting, crochet, cross-stitch, jewelry-making, or anything else—and hang out with other crafters while working on your projects. Drop in anytime between 6pm and 8pm at the Multipurpose Center (202 Washington Ave S). Ages 13 and older please.

Fall 2024 Meeting Dates: September 19th, October 17th, November 21st, and December 19th.

Youth Soccer - Fall 2024

Registration is closed for the Fall 2024 season.  Registration for the Spring '25 season will open in February.

This introductory program is for children ages 3-7 years old. The Fall '24 season begins September 9th, 2024 and lasts 8 weeks (6 weeks for Age 3 bracket). Practices take place the first 3 weeks of the season, followed by 5 weeks of games.

•  Age Divisions as follows: Age 3, Ages 4-5, and Ages 6-7.
• Practice & Game Location: For Age 3 division, practices and games take place at Whitehawk Park in Orting on Mondays & Wednesdays at 5:30pm. For age 4-5 division, practices and games take place at Gratzer Sports Park in Orting on Mondays & Wednesdays at 5:30pm. For age 6-7 division, practices and games take place at Gratzer Sports Park in Orting on Tuesdays & Thursdays at 5:30pm.   *Practice days and times subject to change based on coach's availability.
• No games 10/31/24 (A makeup game will be scheduled).
• Game days and times are subject to change.
• Teams will be made up of 6-8 players randomly grouped by the Parks and Rec Department.
• Buddy and Coach requests may be made but are not guaranteed.
• Cost is $60 for Ages 4-5 & 6-7, $45 for Age 3. Cost includes team T-Shirt for games.
• Purchase of shin guards and cleats recommended, but not required.

Dance Classes - Fall 2024

Registration for the Fall 2024 is now closed. Registration for our winter session will open in November.

The Fall 2024 Session consists of 12 classes and begins SEPTEMBER 9TH for Monday classes and SEPT. 13TH for Friday classes. No classes 11/25/24-11/29/24. Classes take place at the Orting Multipurpose Center (the library building) located at 202 Washington Ave. S. This session includes a recital on December 9th, 2024. *Please note class dates and recital are subject to change* Registration cost: $110 plus costume.
