The Orting Streets Department takes great pride in maintaining the streets; we are also very busy. Sometimes we are not aware of potholes or signs that have gone missing or are in need of repair. We encourage residents to call the Public Works Department when you have found that your street is in need of repair and for damaged/missing signs.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Public Works Department schedules street sweeping the first full week of each month from September through February and every other month from March through August. While this is anticipated to occur, there may be occasions where the sweeper unexpectedly needs service, or the Department experiences short staffing due to utility emergencies. If these occasions should occur, the PW Supervisor will either reschedule or push to the following month, depending on the circumstance.

Monday - River’s Edge/Carbon River Landing

Wednesday - Whitehawk & Rainier Meadows

Thursday - Calistoga Place, The Meadows, and Hidden Lakes

Friday AM - Downtown & Village Green

Can we call to have street sweeping in our neighborhood?
Yes. Especially after storm events and holidays, such as the 4th of July. Our street sweeper will go to neighborhoods that have curb and gutter sidewalks.
Can I plant trees in the ROW in front of my home/property?
It’s best to check with the City before planting trees in the ROW (Right of Way). There could be service lines along those areas and after years of growth, those service lines could be potential for damage. Sidewalk friendly trees are recommended. Whom do I call if a streetlight is out?
Please call the Public Works Main Office for lights out. You will be asked for a tag number, which is located on the pole and a street name, nearest cross street or address.
Whom do I call if a street sign is missing or damaged?
Our Public Works staff maintains and repairs most In-City street signs. If there is a sign in your neighborhood that is missing or damaged, please call our main office number with the location, cross street or address if possible.
My property backs to an alley, who do I call to have the potholes filled?
Orting Public Works staff maintains the alleys by grading and filling as necessary. If your alley needs holes filled or re-grading please call the main office number with your location.
