The role of the City of Orting Building Department is to protect human life, health and property through the enforcement of Washington State Building and related codes. The building code provisions require that buildings and other structures be constructed, altered and used in a manner that protects a building’s occupants as well as the general public.
The Building Department also manages City of Orting Stormwater Compliance and serves as a contact point for all Orting residents who have questions or concerns about floodplain regulations and safety.

Code Compliance Officer
The Code Compliance Officer enforces provisions of the Orting Municipal Code that promote health, safety, and the appearance of existing buildings and neighborhoods.
If you have an issue you would like addressed, please print and complete the Citizen Action Request Form and mail it to PO Box 489, Orting, WA or you may pick up a form at City Hall.

The Code Enforcement Officer is available on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.

- Nuisances affecting public health
- Unpermitted and prohibited signs
- Unlicensed businesses
- Unpermitted land uses
- Abandoned vehicles
- Abandoned refrigerators and appliances
- Accumulations of trash, junk or discarded waste materials on residential or commercial properties
- Dilapidated buildings, structures, and properties
- Uncontrolled vegetation
- Illegal businesses operating in residences
- Illegal occupancy of a recreational vehicle
