The Public Works Director has the responsibility for planning organizing, directing, and coordinating activities of Public Works Department and participates in the routine maintenance, operation and construction of public works improvements for the City. The Public Works Director will submit annual budget estimates, review plans, evaluate, plan and direct the construction, operation and maintenance needs of the City in public works programs including water, wastewater, stormwater, streets, cemetery and parks.

Monthly Salary

This is a full-time, FLSA Exempt, non-union position. Under limited supervision, the City Planner administers current planning for the City of Orting and oversees planning, zoning, subdivision, development regulations, and conducts long range planning. The regular work schedule for the City Engineer is Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Attendance at evening meetings is anticipated.

Positon Opening- Water/Wastewater Operator II

JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Water/Wastewater Operator II
Department: Public Works

Reports To: Public Works Supervisor

Wage: $23.00 – $28.29 / hour

Major Function and Purpose

The Water/Wastewater Operator II is primarily responsible for performing general maintenance duties and laboratory testing required for proper operation of the Wastewater Treatment Plant, Wastewater Collection System and the Water Distribution facilities. This is a journey level position, which entails the ability to install, inspect, and repair all equipment that is necessary to this process, and to ensure that it functions properly at all times.

Mayor Function and Purpose
Under the general direction of the City Administrator, the Planner performs a diverse range of technical and professional duties related to land use planning and is the principal contact in the administration/enforcement of the City’s land use regulations and ensuring compliance with the Comprehensive Plan’s applicable land use codes and regulations. The Planner will have frequent contact with the general public and the development community. In addition, the position will provide staff assistance to the Planning Commission, the Hearing Examiner, the City Council, and Council committees.

CLERICAL II-HR CLERK- POSITION OPENING

Job Title: Clerical II – HR Clerk
Department: Finance

Reports to: Treasurer
Wages: $21.05 – $25.89/hr.
Closing Date: 02/26/18

Major Function and Purpose
The Clerical II is a full-time FLSA non-exempt, non-Civil Service accounting position. The Clerical II performs a variety of specialized accounting duties to primarily include Payroll. The Clerical II prepares bi-monthly payroll, issues payroll vendor checks, prepares W2 forms, processes quarterly payroll reports, maintains personnel files, and assists with organizing and documenting ongoing training. This position supports the activities of the Treasurer’s office.

General Function
Under general supervision of the Treasurer, the Clerical II performs at a fully skilled level a variety of responsible duties to prepare, maintain, and reconcile accounting, budget and other fiscal records and data, and specializes in Payroll. This person will cross train with accounts payable, and help with other accounting functions as requested by the Treasurer.
