Mayor's Weekly Update
August 30 - September 3 

Park Tree Removal:  The two large dead fir trees in the park across the street from Orting Bakery need to be removed for safety.  The City has solicited bids to remove the trees.  The trees will be cut down in the next tow weeks.

Council Vacancy:  Councilmember Joachim Pestinger has resigned to serve on the Fire District 18 Board of Commissioners.  If you are interested in joining the City Council submit a letter of interest no later than 4:00 pm on Thursday, September 2, 2010.  To be eligible to be on the City Council you must be a U.S. citizen, a registered voter and a resident of Orting for at least one-year.  Letters of interest can be submitted in person at 110 Train Street Southeast, mailed to PO Box 489, faxed to (360) 893 – 6809 or e-mailed HERE.      

Land Use Ordinance Update:  At the last Council meeting the Council reviewed a set of ordinances updating the Orting land use code.  The Council will continue to discuss the ordinances on September 8. Copies of the ordinances can be reviewed at Orting City Hall.
